Youth Art Camp Week 2: June 22-26, 2020

We currently plan to begin summer camps Week 4 beginning July 13th and are cancelling weeks 1, 2, & 3 out of caution for the continued health and wellness of our participants, teachers, and staff. Please visit weeks 4-7 for updated offerings.

MORNING CAMPS CANCELED

9:00am – 12:00pm

Fun in the Mud  (ages 4-7)

This introductory pottery class for the very young allows students to explore different kinds of clay, the pottery wheel and hand building techniques, and finishing objects with colorful glazes.  Students will make all sorts of pottery and creatures to be treasured for years to come. Instructor: Larua Cardello

Painting Paradise  (ages 4-7)

This is the perfect class for budding painters. Students will be introduced to various painting styles and techniques in a fun and engaging way with lots of room for imaginative expression. Instructor: Connie Brennan

Nature’s Palette  (ages 8-11)

Nature’s Palette will focus on the use of found natural objects to create and inspire art. We will use nature directly to enhance traditional art making methods as well as teaching students to think creatively with objects they encounter every day. We will make jelly prints, rain sticks, paintbrushes, low relief rubbings, and more! Instructor: Sarah Jane Ballentine

 


AFTERNOON CAMPS CANCELED

Creative Painting  (ages 8 & up)

Explore painting with a twist! Students will create vivid dreamscapes populated by butterflies, angels, lizards and rich flora using a variety of techniques including creating texture, incorporating precise stencils, and combining color. Instructor: Connie Brennan

Youth Pottery  (ages 8 & up)

Students will learn the basics of making functional ceramics using the pottery wheel and hand-building techniques to create decorative pieces and whimsical animals. Glazing, surface decoration, and the “magic” of the kiln to create vibrant shiny surfaces will also be explored. Instructor: Laura Cardello
