Youth Art Camp Week 3: July 6-10, 2020

We currently plan to begin summer camps Week 4 beginning July 13th and are cancelling weeks 1, 2, & 3 out of caution for the continued health and wellness of our participants, teachers, and staff. Please visit weeks 4-7 for updated offerings.

9:00am – 12:00pm

Fun in the Mud  (ages 4-7)

This introductory pottery class for the very young allows students to explore different kinds of clay, the pottery wheel and hand building techniques, and finishing objects with colorful glazes.  Students will make all sorts of pottery and creatures to be treasured for years to come. Instructor: Laura Cardello

Fantasy Creatures  (ages 4-7)

Explore numerous fantastic creatures from literature, popular culture, and most importantly, imagination! Using paint and various other materials students will create projects based on dragons, unicorns, fairies, and more! Instructor: Dominique Hodge

Make Your Own Toy  (ages 4-7)

Make art you can keep playing with! This multi-media camp will explore techniques from clay sculpting to simple fabric sewing. Students will create creatures and character dolls as fascinating as their imaginations! Instructor: Lexi Melton


1:00pm – 4:00pm

Youth Pottery  (ages 8 & up)

Students will learn the basics of making functional ceramics using the pottery wheel and hand-building techniques to create decorative pieces and whimsical animals. Glazing, surface decoration, and the “magic” of the kiln to create vibrant shiny surfaces will also be explored. Instructor: Laura Cardello

Fantastic Beasts & Superheroes  (ages 8 & up)

Dive into the fantastic worlds of Harry Potter, the Avengers, and many more! Students will complete a variety of projects based upon these imaginative sources using numerous techniques, media, and composition. Instructor: Dominique Hodge

FX Makeup  (ages 11 & up)

Explore special effects makeup with yourself as the model! Students will learn prosthetic sculpting, molding and casting techniques to create advanced cosmetic effects. Although these effects tend towards scary Halloween characters by recreating blood, wounds, gashes and odd facial features, students can also create animal and fairy makeup. Instructor: Lexi Melton
